Membership Information

Membership Criteria:

Membership in a Masonic Lodge is open to all men 21 years of age or older -- regardless of race, color, or religion. Our membership requirements are very clear.

You must be of good character and reputation. You'll have to provide evidence of living a positive life through references from at least three other people.

You must believe in a Supreme Being and the immortality of the soul. This belief is not proscribed -- rather, we encourage you to be steadfast in the faith of your choice.

How to Join:

Many Masons became members because a family member, friend or co-worker introduced them to the organization. If they were interested in joining they simply asked and the process was initiated. Masons realized that times have changed and you may not know someone who is a Mason that you can talk to about the organization. After you have done a little reading and research on your own you would probably benefit from contacting our Lodge to express an interest in learning more and to have any questions you have answered.

The Oswego Lodge is a great Lodge. Our members are made up from all walks of life. The best thing we can suggest is give a call or send an email so one of our brothers can contact you. If you have a difficult schedule (ie: 3rd shift, etc) or have a specific Masonic interest let us know and we will do all we can to accomodate your work schedule or specific interest. You would be amazed at the vast knowledge base we have to draw upon from our membership.

After making contact with our Lodge, one of our members will call or email so we can meet, answer any questions and get to know each other. If you think Masonry would be a good fit for your life then complete a membership form. We can either send one to you our you can download one here.

Once we have received you membership petition a committee will be appointed. An informal meeting is setup so we may provide some more insight into the organization. The job of this committee is to determine if you meet the requirements for membership. A report is then presented to the Lodge and a formal vote will take place.

If you are accepted, you will receive notice from the Lodge Secretary and a date will be set for you to receive your first degree in Masonry. You will be provided one or more guides that will be your personal mentors through the three degrees of Masonry, making you full Lodge member.
