Lake City 127 F&AM Celebrate George Washington’s Birthday! Article by Bro. George Reed OSWEGO, NY - On Saturday, Feb. 21, Lake City #127 Masons celebrated George Washington’s birthday for the 49th time. The Masons and their guests gathered at their new lodge and ate a traditional New England turkey dinner prepared by Like City Victoria #205 Order of the Eastern Star. Shown are Kevin Dice, Pack 888; Mercedes Niess, H. Lee White Marine Museum; Ron Bond, Master Lake City 127; and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lear, Friends of Fort Ontario. After a period of fellowship, the Masons and their guests assembled in their lodge room to be entertained by a quartet from the SnowBelters. They sang a collection of patriotic songs. Each year, the Lodge raises funds to support worthy causes. This year, the recipients were Cub Scout Pack 888, the H. Lee White Marine Museum, and Friends of Fort Ontario. Each group sent a representative to tell the Masons how they would use the monies collected. The event was chaired by Edward M. Salm who said, “Our George Washington Dinner is essentially a birthday party honoring one of America’s most famous Freemasons. This year’s theme was ‘Partnership’ and the members of Lake City Lodge came together with our close community friends to celebrate the fact that together we do far more good than any of our organizations can do individually!
